Director’s Biography:
Teresa Griffiths has been working in film and television for more than twenty years and has directed many films that have been shown in the UK and around the world. She began her career working in the Arts Department at BBC. As a freelance filmmaker, she has worked for both the BBC and Channel 4. She has made many documentaries on a range of arts subjects and has also retraced the footsteps of Cortes in Mexico for a feature length C4 history special and crossed the Sahara with desert nomads.
Synopsis: A journey into the darkly strange and cinematic world of British surrealist Leonora Carrington.British artist Leonora Carrington was a key part of the surrealist movement during its heyday in Paris and yet, until recently, remained a virtual unknown in the country of her birth. This film explores her dramatic evolution from British debutante to artist in exile, living out her days in Mexico City.
