Director’s Biography: Benoît Jacquot was born in 1947 in Paris. He started out as an assistant director before making his feature debut in 1975 with The Musician Killer based on Dostoyevsky. In 1996, A Single Girl screened in the Berlinale Panorama. No Scandal (1999) competed at the Venice IFF. His costume drama Farewell My Queen (2012) participated in the Berlinale Competition and won 10 Cesar nominations. Synopsis: London, 18th century. Casanova, famous for his taste of pleasure and gambling, arrives from Paris, forced into exile. In this city he knows nothing about, the libertine meets on several occasions a young prostitute, Marianne de Charpillon. She attracts him to the point he starts disregarding all other women. The legendary seducer is ready to do anything to get her, but La Charpillon always escapes under various excuses. She challenges Casanova: "You will only have me if you stop desiring me!"
