Long Story Short

Long Story Short is the story of Ellen and her friends, all in their late thirties/early forties, and their more or less self-inflicted complications of love and longing for romantic redemption. The story is a summary of three years of love-related highs and lows for the group of friends told through eight chapters, each of them set at a party: a New Year's Eve, a house warming, a Midsummer's Eve, a wedding, a surprise party, a naming ceremony, an anniversary, and a birthday. Holy Cow

When famous American archaeologist Albert Frederick Thomas Jackson dies in his beloved small town in Guatemala, a whole series of misadventures is triggered by the rather peculiar items outlined in his will, an important part of which involves a cow named Tracy. These eccentricities are matched only by the arrival of the two wives — and, seemingly, two heirs to the fortune. Add in a couple of shady lawyers and a mischievous taxi driver and you have an offbeat comedy about the differences between urban and rural Guatemala, and the even more complex comedic possibilities of the disparity between what is written and what is real.

The film depicts the land disputes of two families whose hatred and resentment of each other is passed down from generation to generation. Homage to women who, despite losing loved ones, do everything they can to preserve the family unit, this stunning film is the story of two women, in a remote Muslim community, who confront an escalating blood feud and reach deep into themselves in hopes to undo the feud stretching back generations.
