It all started with the first wine sip Giovanni Cuttin had in his life. A Marzemino, a wine mentioned by Lorenzo da Ponte in his libretto for Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Since then, the shy clerk becomes the bank director, a lady-killer and the most revered wine expert in Italy. But soon he will be charged for his wife’s murder. Being grilled by Inspector Sanfelice, Giovanni reflects on the last 3 years of his life, dominated by an only mad passion: wine. Gradually the investigation becomes more and more caught between the boundaries of reality and its dreamlike counterpart. What if Giovanni, like Faust, met a diabolic force that made his life very special, only to settle the score later?

Director’s Biography
Ferdinando Vicentini Orgnani (September 23, 1963, Milan) is an Italian director producer and screenwriter. He has directed feature films such as Mare Largo (1998), and Ilaria Alpi – ll Piu Crudele Dei Giorni (2002), this film traces the last days of the life of journalist Ilaria Alpi and cameraman Miran Hrovatin murdered in Somalia. Recently he has directed Zulu Meets Jazz, another documentary in collaboration with the Italian jazzman Paolo Fresu, current and spectacular testimony of the encounter between culture, art, music and above all, different realities.

Giacomo Campiotti (Varese, 8 July 1957) is an Italian film director and screenwriter. His debut feature Spring Race (1989) was selected to be screened at Venice IFF and, many other festivals. His next, like Two Crocodiles was much appreciated by critics, audience and awards. It was nominated for Golden Globes. Giacomo went on to direct miniseries based on Doctor Zhivago (2002) for American television which starred Keira Knightley, Same Neil and, Hans Matheson.

Gina amd Marco are living in the suburbs of Rome. The two meet on a very special day: their first day at work. They have a future that awaits them and really seems at hand. Gina is about to realize her dream of becoming an actress, while Marco for the first time has found an opportunity that allows him to start dreaming: a job in a car rental company as a driver. They are enabled to know each other since his first duty is to drive Gina to an appointment, and given a delay, they have to share the whole day. This journey will take them from the periphery to the center of the city, will serve both to compare their experiences and think about a future that has already begun.

Francesca Comencini (born 19 August 1961) is an Italian film director and screenwriter. She attended the Lycee francais Chateaubriand school with her sisters. She has directed 14 film since 1984. Her film Le Parole Di Mio Padre was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. In 2012, her film Un Giorno Speciale was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 69th Venice International Film Festival.

A retired teacher and novelist, who survives by private tutoring, is currently writing the biography for former adult star. He then discovers that one of his students, a teenager who is on the brink of failure at school, is actually his son.

Born in Rome, Bruni started his professional career as a screenwriter in 1991, for the film Condomino. In 1994 he started a long collaboration with director Paolo Virzi with Virzi’s debut film La Bella Vita. In 2011 Bruni made his directorial debut with Easy! Which got him the David di Donatello for Best New Director as well as the Silver Ribbon in the same category. Bruni teaches screenwriting at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia Rome.

In Milan, Matteo is an underemployed physicist, giving the occasional lecture at a university while working at a PR firm where he knows he’ll be fired. Without his really trying, two women are attracted to him, a blonde and a brunette. The blonde is Angelica; they meet while smoking on the office rooftop. To his surprise, she has influence in the company, and soon has him flying off (with her) to make presentations. The brunette is Beatrice, a new flatmate, hoping for a teaching job in the national service. Angelica dangles a posting with her in Barcelona in front of Matteo. Meanwhile, Beatrice is just plain-simple-nice Beatrice. Will Matteo figure out what he wants and decide before opportunity passes him by?
